We do this by magnifying the good work of nonprofit organizations that offer direct, low- and no-cost pregnancy and parenting services, so women know where to find help. Through a membership-based structure, we also aim to provide funding and resources to our certified, life-giving nonprofit partners by inspiring our community to come together in support of women who are pregnant and parenting.
Visible support for women who are pregnant and parenting is crucial for building a life-giving culture and ensuring that necessary services are known and can be accessed. If a woman is considering abortion, she needs to hear voices that support her decision to choose life for her baby. 1% for Women is rooted in the commitment of communities and individuals joining together to accompany women where they live as they consider their pregnancy options.
You can support women in motherhood by donating to nonprofits (certified by 1% for Women) that serve your community with low- and no-cost pregnancy and parenting services.
Yes! Your pledge as a member of 1% for Women is fulfilled with your direct donation to one or more
certified 1% for Women Nonprofit Partners of your choice. Our nonprofit partners provide at least one low- or no-cost service to women who are pregnant or parenting.
No part of your 1% goes through Bluebird Refuge; it is a direct gift from you to them.

Contrary to the misconception that pro-life individuals are merely pro-birthers, we care deeply for women and families before and after a child is born. Your participation in 1% for Women underscores this commitment. When women in crisis choose life for their babies, knowing they will be supported through pregnancy and into motherhood, we create a life-giving environment where our communities can truly thrive.
For business owners, membership also positively impacts your business because the certification gives customers and employees visibility into your philanthropic efforts, showing them that their dollars and work contribute to the greater good. You also can support employees and customers who may be struggling in motherhood.
Growing our 1% for Women Nonprofit Partners list is an ongoing process, and we appreciate your efforts to identify life-giving organizations that provide at least one low- or no-cost service to women in one of these areas:
• Women’s Health: Full or limited medical care, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, prenatal education, STI screening, pregnancy options, postpartum, and more
• Material Assistance: Maternal and child clothing, diapers, food pantry assistance, domestic needs, or transportation
• Mental Health & Wellness: Emotional, trauma, spiritual support, addiction, or mental health services
• Legal & Financial Counseling: Guidance on legal and financial matters related to family, employment, or housing
• Social/Life Services: Life skills, health, and parenting education; childcare; case management; career counseling; and referrals for additional pregnancy and parenting support services
• Housing & Shelter: Long-term or short-term emergency or permanent housing, including domestic violence shelters, maternity housing, and after-care maternal housing

Your donations to 1% for Women Nonprofit Partners are tax deductible when given directly to them. However, your 1% for Women membership dues are not tax deductible because Bluebird Refuge is a Benefit Corporation, not a 501(c)(3). Please consult a tax professional for specific tax matters.
No, we focus on supporting women in motherhood, irrespective of politics.
We are interested in creating a subculture within our local communities that exclaims support for women in motherhood, especially during pregnancy and parenting.
Hope & Joy Membership
Hope & Joy members include businesses dedicated to doing good by committing one percent of total annual sales of their company, brand, product line*, or service* to life-giving non-profits that offer pregnancy and parenting services to women in their local communities.
Members receive a “Nest Box” featuring thoughtfully curated products from our tea shop, resources to help advance the movement, and the rights to use the 1% for Women logo.
*Minimum annual revenue of $25,000 is required for product line or service commitment.
Bluebird Membership
Members include individuals, families, and foundations pledging to annually support our Nonprofit Partners who offer pregnancy and parenting services. Donations may be monetary gifts, materials, volunteer assistance, or a combination of these. Bluebird members receive a “Nest Bundle” featuring thoughtfully curated products from our tea shop, along with resources to help advance the movement.
Membership dues cover the certification process, “Nest Box/Bundle,” and marketing. Dues are paid to Bluebird Refuge, whereas your tax-deductible commitment is donated directly to one or more 1% for Women Nonprofit Partners.

Bluebird Membership
Your membership is $40 today, then $10 monthly. Monthly contributions start in the second month. To discontinue your membership, please contact us 15 days prior to your next monthly transaction.
Contributions cover costs associated with:
• Certifying businesses and nonprofit organizations
• Advancing the movement through our outreach publications, social media promotions, and marketing/advertising, allowing us to be a life-giving voice of support when women are considering their pregnancy options
• Providing a “Nest Box” (Hope & Joy Membership), “Nest Bundle” (Bluebird Membership), or “Nest Kit” (Nonprofit Partners) to our partners and members to help advance the movement (each contains select products from our tea shop, along with materials to help you share information about the 1% for Women movement with employees, customers, family, and friends)
• Visibility of participating businesses on the 1% for Women membership listing located on our website (or opt to remain anonymous). You can also be highlighted in future 1% for Women and Bluebird Refuge publications
Your school or community organization can endorse the 1% for Women movement as Bluebird Advocates. This no-cost advocacy option allows non-exempt entities the opportunity to exclaim their support for women through 1% for Women, expand the movement, amplify current life-giving work, and fundraise for one or more of our nonprofit partners. Complete the endorsement form to be listed as Bluebird Advocates.

There is no partnership fee. Our goal is to help you strengthen your resources, not diminish them.
However, you may choose to purchase materials for your employees and clients that could support your mission. Our resources include the “9 Days of Refuge” book, 1% for Women info cards, and Bluebird Refuge premium tea.
As a 1% for Women Nonprofit Partner, you will receive a “Nest Kit” containing both digital and print materials designed to support your participation and enhance your communications with employees, patients/clients, and donors.
Digital materials include social media content (visuals and messaging), internal and external announcement templates, logos, and printable FAQs, donor communication handouts, and The Story of the Bluebird. Other materials include window clings/stickers, a rack card with general information, the “9 Days of Refuge” book, and tea samples.
Our website, marketing, and communication efforts will magnify your life-giving services to women, giving your organization greater visibility within your community. Additionally, our “9 Days of Refuge” book is available to you at a discounted rate, providing another tool to uplift women experiencing uncertainty due to pregnancy.
a. Maintain life-giving services for women and families at low or no cost. Low-cost is defined as substantially reduced final cost of services to women and their families.
b. Ensure you have a process in place to receive funds from 1% for Women members for your programs. You will be asked to identify ways to give when you submit your Nonprofit Partner application form.
c. Submit a simple annual report on the total services provided for women when we are assessing our impact. You will receive an email prompt for this.
a. Increase the visibility of your organization and the services you provide by listing it on our website and in our communications.
b. Feature your organization as eligible to receive donations from our 1% for Women members, motivating your current donors to continue supporting your life-giving work while increasing the potential for new donors.
c. Highlight your organization’s resource needs through our communications, pop-up events, and social media. We encourage our Nonprofit Partners and members to stay informed through our electronic communications and follow 1% for Women on social media to help expand our reach.
The purpose of 1% for Women is to support women on their journey through pregnancy and parenting, especially in times of need. Our goal is to build “nest boxes,” not tear them down.

• Submit your revenue and donation amounts at the end of your membership year to obtain and maintain your certification.
• Complete a brief, year-end survey to share your impact on your community.

It serves as a catalyst for any business to easily gain a competitive advantage in both sales and employment attraction and retention by becoming a profit-with-a-purpose organization. Hope & Joy members may use the approved 1% for Women logo and icon across all communication channels. These will be provided to you.
Once you become a member and make a pledge, your business will be listed. Upon completing your pledge year and the certification process, our bluebird icon will appear next to your business’s name.
At the end of your pledge year, your business must submit its revenue for your chosen designation (company, brand, product line, or service) along with the receipts of your donations and the completion of your brief impact report. Bluebird Refuge will then verify that the 1% contribution was donated.

No, advocate groups are not required to pay dues.
